March 6

And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD, to minister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants, all who keep the sabbath, and do not profane it, and hold fast my covenant— these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.

– Isaiah 56:6-7

What do you suppose God’s vision of family looks like? These few verses paint a picture of God’s house, which has opened its doors to all who worship The Lord. I don’t know about you and your house, but God seems to be a lot more open to visitors than me. It makes me think of God’s house as one in which all who enter are family, sharing in the common bond of community through grace, forgiveness and salvation. I wonder who we would bump into in that house.
How can we open our arms to others the way that God opens His home to us?

PRAYER:

Gracious God, you have opened the doors to your home so that we can enter freely. Allow me to open my arms to those around me this day. Amen.
