March 20

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

– Ephesians 3:14-19

This scripture spoke to my heart because of the many powerful words and phrases Paul shares in his letter to the Ephesians. The first part of this prayer is to be strengthened with power that only our Lord can provide through the gift of the Holy Spirit. When we bow to our knees literally or figuratively, we are humbling ourselves before God by giving Him the power over our lives. We are relinquishing our control and asking our Lord to direct our path and walk alongside us in all that we do. The day I was ordained as a Deacon, I felt this humbling experience of God letting me know I was right where he wanted me to be and how much love he has for me. It was time for me to share his love with others. The love our Lord has for each one of us is immeasurable. We pray this day to open out hearts to God’s infinite love for us.

My prayer is for us to grow spiritually and open our hearts and souls to be filled with God’s love so that love will shine through us. Our Heavenly Father, desires to have a personal relationship with us. All we have to do is call unto him and ask Him to dwell in our hearts.

PRAYER:

My prayer for myself and all the Westminster family is that we will experience Christ’s fullness of love and joy during this Lenten season. I pray that we will be filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit and that we will recognize all that God is doing through us and for us.
