Christians, the Nations, and War:
Westminster Seminars May 2022

Five-Week May Series

Christians, the Nations, and War

John P. Burgess
Professor of Systematic Theology, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has shocked the world. This series will draw on Christian perspectives on war to help us understand how God may be at work in these events and what God is calling us to do as American Christians.
May 1 – What Is Happening in Ukraine?
May 8 – Is God at Work in War? How?
May 15 – Should a Nation Defend Itself from External Aggression?
May 22 – What Kind of Justice Must We Work For?
May 29 – How Can We Live Out Our Prayers for Peace?

John Burgess has lived in Russia and traveled to Ukraine. He is closely following current events, as he tries to think about the role of religion in war and about Christian responsibility to the nations.
