Lent in Plain Sight

Welcome to the Lenten Devotional 2021 for Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Over the next six weeks, as we travel together on the journey of Lent, these devotions will serve as our companions. The resource is Lent in Plain Sight from Jill Duffield. She invites us to “open our eyes, to the certain providence and power of God, allowing us to lower our anxiety about the future, lessen our burden about the past and free us to follow Jesus in faith right here and now.” We will go through the six weeks of Lent exploring familiar objects with faith-filled eyes, accompanied by scripture to awaken us to God’s presence everywhere. You will find some personal reflections, images, scripture readings, and prayers.

May you be blessed.

For it is written: “I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE UNDERSTANDING OF THOSE WHO HAVE UNDERSTANDING, I WILL CONFOUND.” Where is the wise person? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made foolish the wisdom of the wor…

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to…
