Volunteer Opportunities - Children's Ministry

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY COMMISSION

A core group of adults that support the Children's Ministry staff and elders with: Continual long-range planning, leadership for implementation of current programming, prayer support, acting ambassadors to the congregation and community for positive promotion of Children's Ministry.

CRIB AND TODDLER COMMITTEE

Support for crib and toddler staff; problem-solving so Westminster can always strive to have the highest quality and best environment for the children. Time required: meets quarterly. Special skills: knowledge of developmental and spiritual needs of children birth through age 2 1/2.

CRIB AND TODDLER GREETER

Greet parents and children as they enter the nursery. Be available to answer questions about the nursery and direct visitors. The nursery is often the first introduction to the congregation for a young family. The greeter also frees the caregivers to spend time with children. Time required: 1 hour per month on a Sunday.

CHILDREN'S DAY IN COORDINATOR

Maintain sign up sheets for parents of children using the popular program on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Coordinate parent volunteers. Be an ambassador for the church to the members of the community that make use of this ministry. This ministry provides children (18 months through 4 years) with the opportunity to experience loving, happy, spiritual relationships with adults and children outside their own homes. When children are old enough to sit for a story, they are introduced to a Christian curriculum that includes stories, music and crafts. This ministry is also an outreach to the community.

CHILDREN AND WORSHIP TEAM

Teach and lead a worship experience through the rhythm and ritual of music and storytelling, concluding with a time that allows the children to respond creatively to what they have learned. Should have a balanced combination of the following skills: mature understanding of reformed worship; a knowledge of child development; the ability to tell stories; music and art (not crafts) knowledge and ability to teach a song or direct an art experience. Children and Worship invites both children and adults to experience the wonder and mystery of God through a unique storytelling format and multi-sensory materials. Time required: 1 hour, 2 out of 3 Sundays. Published curriculum training is available.

JAM TEAM (Jesus And Me) 5th and 6th Grade Youth Group

Each Wednesday evening, Fall through Spring, the 5th and 6th graders meet for Bible study, fellowship and recreation from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Volunteer Opportunities include Bible study facilitator, recreation coordinator, special events coordinator (for one event or the entire year), mission coordinator, or single night game leader. Skills needed: Love of pre-teens and lots of energy.
