Visit the top link on the left because The Automated Library System is now online!
The library now has over 4,000 books entered into the automated system. The library staff is working almost daily at entering additional materials into the Follett Destiny program. You can access our library collection from any office in the church, as well as from home, college campus, public library, or seminary.
You must come in person to borrow any of the materials. The library is open and available when the office section of the church is open. We need your name and phone number on the card in the pocket (located at the back of the book), and a date must be stamped in the book and on the date due slip.
We now have a cooperative agreement with the church libraries at Christ Methodist Church and St. Thomas More Catholic Church. All three congregations can borrow material from one another. This can be very helpful in gathering information on social issues facing our churches, as well as reference materials giving their church's perspective on church polity.
To assist you when visit our library, here is some basic information about the book indicators, which help you locate a book on a shelf:
All children's books begin with an E for Easy and then a Dewey decimal number for non-fiction (eg. 221.6), or an F for fiction and then the first three letters of the author's last name (eg. Taf for Taffey).
For youth of young adult, we start with YA, then the Dewey decimal number, fiction, or B for biography indicator, and then the author's last name.
For adults, F is for fiction, B is for biography, 221.6 is the Dewey number, and Taf is the author indicator.
Reference materials will begin with Ref as the indicator. DVDs, videos, and audio cassettes will be entered soon.
