Counseling Center
Do you know someone who is struggling and needs help? Wonder where they can seek assistance? Are you aware of the Westminster Counseling Center's service as a community resource? People come to the Westminster Counseling Center for all kinds of reasons. One of our recent clients who suffered anxiety from job and family issues said in a letter to the Center's Board, "My soul is being restored; I have hope and feel more at peace. I am truly thankful for the blessing of this counseling center and what it has provided for me...thanks to you my life has been revived and my spirituality restored..."
Westminster's Counseling center is a community resource and outreach ministry. The Center offers professional and confidential services to individuals, families or couples experiencing life crises and emotional difficulties. It is unique counseling which integrates faith and psychology, one of the behavioral sciences.
Sometimes people want to be assured that religion will not be a part of the counseling; clients are encouraged to clarify what they need. Our services cover various degrees of need within the issues of marriage, family, stress, grief, faith, anxiety, low self-esteem, life transitions and relationships. This is a confidential service, as provided by state law and professional ethics to clients regardless of age, religion, race or financial resources.

Contact Counseling Center
To initiate contact with a counselor there is a separate dedicated phone, 412-854-4530, which goes directly to the office of Pastoral Care Ministries. A counselor is assigned based on the client's needs and availability. All calls and counseling sessions are confidential. The typical first appointment is to get acquainted and discuss counseling goals and issues that will be addressed. A separate suite of offices with a private entrance is located on the second level of our north educational wing.
Counseling Center Vision
The Westminster Counseling Center was started in 1984 to serve members of the congregation as well as reaching into the community. The church provides the facilities and funds to subsidize counseling clients who are unable to pay the full fee for services. In many cases insurance covers the cost of counseling. There is a sliding fee scale based on family income. Normal fees range from $20 to $85. The objective of the Center is to embrace the broader mission of the Christian Church by ministering to the spiritual, moral, emotional and health needs of people in the congregation and community. Our Mission Statement is "to provide counseling services within a Christian context to individuals and families of Westminster members and nonmembers to enhance their well-being."
